Marisa is the largest women's fashion and lingerie chain in Brazil, and one of the largest retailers of men's and children's clothing. With over 70 years in the market, the brand has built its history on a focus on diversity, accessibility, and trends, while maintaining a close and intimate relationship with its customers.

About the Project

To bring best practices in purchasing management to the retail segment, the company identified the need for a purchase item registry with clearer and more reliable information, both to improve the execution of processes from requisition, quotation, equalization and negotiation, as well as to enable the implementation of other initiatives such as eProcurement, establish service contracts, and support decision-making.

Marcelo Tiverão Lemos, Purchasing Manager at Marisa, emphasizes the importance of customer service and engagement for the project's execution. According to Marcelo, the requesting department struggled to understand the importance of using the correct material, which led to incorrect accounting. For example, someone would request a commemorative plaque, but they were looking for a random item code for the plaque, and we'd end up requesting a computer plaque. This not only failed to satisfy the employee's needs, but also resulted in an additional R$1,000.00 charge that hadn't been budgeted for. Currently, for Marisa, one of the biggest benefits of data sanitization is the organization of accounting classification, in addition to the purchase itself.

Another benefit Marcelo mentioned is that with the implementation of Mercado Eletrônico's purchasing platform, purchase processes and requisitions will automatically initiate quotation processes, without buyer intervention. This will bring together the historical margins of suppliers or potential new suppliers, triggering the quotation process. Data quality is essential for assertive and automated quotation processes.

Ariela Rios Borges, Strategic Buyer, highlighted the efficiency of the CH Master Data | Astrein team and emphasized that she now has confidence in the data, and the decision to choose us accelerated the data processing process by providing a solution customized to the company's needs and interfaced with SAP ECC Retail.

According to Ariela, "with historical database queries, we no longer need to consult 50 material records (notebooks), as we can be much more assertive. Previously, this was a concern because we didn't trust the data we had to establish a contract. It lacked precision; we had to consult several different materials to arrive at a more accurate base, and even then, it wasn't 100% reliable."

Ariela also says the solution is fantastic and will help Marisa with other important aspects, such as assigning the correct NCM code, determining asset misalignment, and other aspects. Before the CH Master Data | Astrein solution, this process was entirely manual and bureaucratic, requiring an email request and then opening a supply order. Now, this process is done automatically, in just one day. What used to take 72 hours to complete has been reduced to a maximum of 24 hours.

She reports that, in their first training session, users were delighted with the SSA-CAD solution and praised some features that accelerated the process, such as selecting content simply by typing the first few words, as the system presents options. Previously, teams worked by filling out Excel spreadsheets; now, with the specialized registration platform, they can track who's stuck in the workflow and receive a notification from the system via workflow when the request is complete.

Another benefit mentioned is the issue of not polluting the SAP system with duplicate records: “before, if we searched for notebook, more than 50 options would appear, sometimes with the same description. Today, the SSA system has this lock, as it already notifies the user and prevents duplicate records at the origin of the request.
