Greenbrier Maxion Case Study: Digital Transformation with Sanitation and Registry Governance

How South America's largest rail operation optimized purchasing and planning with quality data.

Greenbrier Maxion, located in Hortolândia, São Paulo, is the result of a joint venture between the Brazilian company Iochpe-Maxion and the American companies Amsted Rail and Greenbrier. Originating from AmstedMaxion, founded in 1943, the company is a benchmark in the railway sector, offering a complete and integrated solution: freight car production, refurbishment, adaptation, modernization of cars and components, as well as leasing services.

Recognized as the largest rail operation in South America, Greenbrier Maxion combines efficient production capacity with technical expertise to deliver tailored solutions for rail freight transportation.

Challenge: Standardize, Integrate and Ensure Governance

To modernize its records management and ensure greater efficiency in purchasing and planning processes, Greenbrier Maxion launched a Digital Transformation project in partnership with CH Master Data | Astrein, encompassing remediation initiatives, specialized consulting, and data integration.

Project Scope

Data Sanitization: Standardization of the current material database, focusing on specific and stock items (approximately 2,000), and adaptation of descriptions to the TOTVS Logix system, respecting character limits and all criteria.

Specialized Consulting: Customization of service item descriptions, considering Greenbrier's operational and contractual specificities, aiming for clarity and traceability in contracts.

Registration Governance: Implementation of a continuous process to handle approximately 100 new items per month, with the lowest SLA on the market, ensuring agility and consistency in record creation.

ERP Integration: Development of a data export website, allowing the automated sending of the SSA-CAD registration center database to TOTVS – Logix, via the Import/Export portal and structured Excel spreadsheets.
