Dexco Case Study – How the company transformed its Materials Management

The company

Dexco is the largest producer of industrialized wood panels in Brazil, a leader in the manufacture of sanitary ware and metals in the Southern Hemisphere, and one of the main references in the ceramic coverings segment in the country.

The project

The partnership between Dexco and Astrein began in 2010, when the company contracted our materials sanitation services. To ensure continued standardization of records, the SSA-CAD software was implemented, operated by a dedicated registration center.

This structure allowed us to improve efficiency in centralized purchasing and reduce inventory by eliminating duplicate codes. The collaboration with CH Master Data | Astrein was crucial in this process.

Expansion and new challenges

In 2019, Dexco acquired a new Ceramic Tile segment, with the Ceusa and Portinari brands. This acquisition brought new challenges to the registration department, requiring special attention to the continuity and integrity of the database.

The registration team, at this time, acted strategically:

  • Promoted training for new employees;

  • Closely monitored the incorporation of databases;

  • Helped identify materials already existing in the Dexco database.

All new materials are now requested and registered via SSA-CAD, following the rules and policies already adopted by the organization.

A multidisciplinary effort

According to Jeferson Lima, it was a period of intense work involving a multitasking team, with support from various areas of the company — Registration, Engineering, Supplies and Warehouse.

The process required:

  • Inventory mapping;

  • Reconciliation of the database of the 21 manufacturing units;

  • Inactivation of generic items that were still in use.

Current results

Dexco currently has a database of 185,000 active registrations and generates an average of 1,200 new registrations per month. The company continues to use CH Master Data | Astrein's services to ensure governance and efficient materials management.
